Plant care, home styling and seasonal ideas from the Hometuary editors

Editorial policy

How Hometuary researches, writes, sources, corrects and updates its plant care, home and seasonal guides, and how advertising is kept separate.

This page explains how Hometuary guides are produced and maintained, so you know what to expect from the information you read here.

Who writes our guides

Articles are written and edited by the Hometuary editorial team. Articles are credited to the team rather than to individual bylines.

Research and sources

  • Plant profiles draw on horticultural references, botanical gardens, university extension services and plant societies. Care needs vary with climate, season and growing conditions, so treat the guidance as a starting point and watch how your own plant responds.
  • Home and design guides draw on established design principles, paint and lighting specifications published by manufacturers, and practical experience of how rooms are used.
  • Where an article relies on specific outside sources, they are listed in a “Sources” or “Links to external resources” section at the end of the article.

Product mentions

Some guides mention products, brands or paint colours as examples. We are not paid to include them, and mentions are not endorsements by the manufacturer. Prices, availability and product specifications change frequently; always confirm details with the retailer or manufacturer before buying.

Safety

Many common houseplants are toxic to cats, dogs or people if eaten. Check reliable sources such as the ASPCA plant database before bringing a plant into a home with pets or young children. Follow manufacturer safety instructions for electrical decorations, candles, sprays and tools.

Corrections and updates

If we learn that an article contains an error, we correct it. Articles show the date they were first published and, where relevant, the date they were last updated. To report a problem, email info@hometuary.com.

Advertising disclosure

Hometuary is supported by display advertising served by Google AdSense. Ads are clearly separated from editorial content, and advertisers have no influence over what we write. We do not accept payment for coverage.
